Mixed Media: Dutch metal leaf, India ink, watercolor,

In the Eastern culture, a dragon is a sacred creature which represents the force of nature and good spirit. On the other hand, in the Western culture a dragon normally represents evil spirit and distraction. In this piece, depends on the viewer’s cultural background, the image could be interpreted as “a Samurai warrior is fighting against the evil dragon” or “a sacred dragon is under the attack by an Asian evil warrior”.

It is fascinating that once we are introduced to a different set of ideas and a new aspect of the images, a whole new meaning would conjure in front of our eyes and the artwork would have whole new meaning!
